Happy August! This is yet another long-overdue blog post. In an effort to become less of a blog slacker, I decided to just record a video. It seems these days, that's a faster route than actually sitting down to write a post. Plus, I thought it would be fun to record the babies too. :-) Here's the latest:
I should offer clarification. The way I said "homeschooling again" is somewhat misleading. It might imply that we did it last year and/or is something we've always done. What I really meant was, we tried it a few years back, then went back to a traditional brick-and-mortar school. Now, after much thought and prayer, we are once again attempting homeschooling.
It might sound totally cuckoo with five kiddos, work, scouts, and the multiple balls being juggled, but I'm truly at peace and really enthusiastic about the year ahead. A big part of that has been because of Jim's schedule change. Our lives have taken a drastic turn (for the better) with him being home more. It turns out that domestic life really suits him. He is still a manly, bearded backpacker, but he can also whip up a mean batch of watermelon bars and keep the kids on task far better than I ever could. It's not to say we haven't had some "adjustment bumps" but we've had some good laughs too. It is for that reason that I also feel much more confident about homeschooling. Truth be told, the kids have been asking to homeschool every year since we stopped. Due to my Dad's illness, then pregnancy, adjusting with Karolina and (colicky) Gus, etc. my reaction was always "no WAY, not this year." I might say that again halfway through this year (ha ha) but right now I'm definitely hopeful. We also joined a co-op which should spice things up for the kids and allow for some additional socialization too.
That's the big update on the home front! There are always multiple things happening at once it seems, but that's been the biggie as we enter into August. I'll keep you posted as we get closer. The kids are expecting their big boxes with their curriculum and goodies soon, so I'll post pics of that when they arrive. Better go now. A trail of baby wipes, the mop, and a box of greeting cards have been scattered along the floor as I typed this. That's my cue!
Love and Blessings.
